What will licensing cost?

Most shows include music that is under copyright protection. Before music can be arranged for your band, you need permission from whoever owns it. That permission is called a license, specifically a “permission to arrange” license. For a high school marching band playing football games and competitions, it’s generally the only kind of license you’ll need!

        Your three licensing options

        Every show comes with one of these. You’ll choose on your quote, and most directors who want help choose Acquisition. The difference is simply who does the work and who pays the publishers. Most licenses go through an online licensing service, and a few come straight from the publisher. I’ll tell you which is which when you get your quote.

        Good to know

        Band size rarely changes the price

        Fees are set per selection. In some cases they shift a little with band size, but generally a 40-piece band and a 200-piece band pay about the same.

        Easy to pay

        Checks, purchase orders and credit cards all work.

        You only pay after approval

        Licensing fees are paid once a license is approved. If a publisher ever says no, I’ll reach out and we’ll sort it out together, and you won’t have spent a thing on it.
