The marching arts has evolved faster than ever the last 10-15 years, requiring a new level of movement education for teachers everywhere that extends well beyond the realm of just “marching”.  While there are specialists out there who can provide this choreography service for a fee, the cost can be prohibitive.  Custom band movement can cost anywhere from $500-1500 per video, and bringing instructors on-site can run upward to $1000/day plus travel!

Enter: Marching Band Movement: an online video course dedicated to teaching directors and students the skills necessary for creating movement and choreography for today’s modern marching band.

This course empowers band directors and students to break down, understand, clean and create their own marching band body movement.  The 35 lessons lay out step-by-step instructions on the techniques, provide examples of movement that are “show ready”, give daily exercises students can do daily, and provide suggestions on how to create and layer your own movement.

Instructional content for the course is provided by Katie Hopkins and Conrad Isenhour!

Katie is a modern dancer/teacher/choreographer that is currently on staff at the world-champion Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps.  She has designed and taught choreography at the Cadets Drum and Bugle Corp, Claudia Taylor Johnson High School (TX), Cedar Ridge High School (TX), Westlake High School (TX), and others.

Conrad is a brass and visual specialist for Claudia Taylor Johnson High School in San Antonio, Texas, and visual choreographer for Monarch Independent Drumline.  In addition, he is a member of the brass faculty at the Boston Crusaders, and the visual staff at the Blue Stars.  He has served as a visual consultant for the Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps, Ronald Reagan High School (TX), Cedar Ridge High School (TX), Westlake High School (TX), Castle High School (IN), the Oregon Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps, 5-Points Indoor Percussion, and Crossmen Winds Indoor.

Marching Band Movement is produced and directed by Manny Maldonado, owner of MJM Works LLC, a marching band design company.  Manny consults with dozens of marching band programs annually and saw the need for quality, affordable band movement/choreography for his schools!
